There arenβt enough stars to express my gratitude.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Detroit Lakes Animal Hospital and the compassionate women who cared for my beloved Bandit and me during one of the hardest moments of my life.
Bandit traveled more than 1,900 miles with me to Minnesota. He had been my constant companion and best friend for nearly 20 years, and I had to say goodbye just two and a half months before his 20th birthday.
From our first phone call, the staff treated us with kindness and understanding. They welcomed us into a beautiful, private room where families can say goodbye to their pets. Bandit was surrounded by nearly a dozen compassionate women who offered him gentle words, affection and treats, treating him like the precious family member he was.
Their kindness comforted both Bandit and me. When my heart was broken, they gave me peace and reassurance. Later, receiving a sympathy card signed by everyone brought me to tears and showed how genuinely they remembered and cared about us.
I will always be grateful for the love, dignity and compassion they showed my sweet boy. They helped make an unbearable experience more peaceful, and I will never forget them.
I highly recommend Detroit Lakes Animal Hospital to anyone seeking compassionate care, especially during a petβs final goodbye.
Bandit was deeply loved, and thanks to them, he was surrounded by love until the end. β€οΈπΎ

Alexa Weyer DVM @ DL Animal hospital did a wonderful job with Paisley our English Mastiff. We dropped her off in the morning for some tests for her hips. She gets extremely nervous when visiting the vet and everyone was great. They had her all done before noon and took good care of her. They are very thorough walking me through dietary guidelines and everything else to help us keep paisley in good health. Been to several different Vets in the area and different states. DL animal health is at the top no doubt. Thank you to the entire team!
Hamsters, Green fighting fish named Luigi, Red betta named Mario, Niijii, Bubba, few more fair fish we won, we later buried, or flushed, played When the Saints come Marching in on an old saxophone, left their fish tank headstone sign later, "Gone Fishin'" on their cross lake grave by a potato farm called Emerald Bay then. My step daddy told me there was a burial mound or more if you walk through water to get there. There is a natural current there that a cool kid like me fell though the lake before on really thin ice. Hurt so bad getting out myself. Walked up the mountain to a Berg of a hill. Cried taking off my frozen snowpants, took a hot shower, the blood dried, and thought... That sucked. Next time I check on Stump or Nelson, Upper Corm, Middle, I should wear XC skis. Didn't tell my parent's because they were working, anytime I got hurt. I have a rich life, didn't know it. But knew I was weird, a Mary Gardener told me at Graduation party in a trailer house before. I had all I needed, just strength to dig myself out and try again. Thank you Franklin 4-H, FFA, LRAC, and my helpers holding credit to my name. Maiden and Married. Was skiing with my cousin Kelly once, little snow hill took me out. Laughed so hard I peed my snowpants! Remind me who can fix old skiis for SNS or NNN, only had downhill poles a Caulfield skirt told me rules and put me in charge of little kids learning to fall at the bottom of a bunny hill. I can't pizza or french fry well, always speghetti squash bloosoms, hold my rollag meatball for my boy. We skiied together, fell, laughed, crossed over or under fallen trees. I wiped white clay under my eyes like war paint, mean brothers and I squashed lightning bug butts on our faces, looked cool at night, swimming, knocking on doors, like french girls in Rome, thankful my roommate there, helped me figure out that bathroom, lights, or fridge. That string I pulled slipping in the shower had me wondering what it did? Took a long narrow bath every night. Saw that red light when I got to bed. Knew what it did to signal naughty french girls. A roman asks kids to check on lights for them. You're welcome, I needed it. Trusted a plastic bag you would pay for to get fruit across the street. I lost a key and lock somewhere. Hope a couple clips it to a chain fence my way someday!
